Great teething food for babies and snacks for adults!

Ingredients

  • 2 kg Sweet potato (washed thoroughly and leave skin on)

Method

  1. Slice sweet potato thinly. About the size of french fries.
  2. Steam sweet potato until soft. Do this in batches if you have a small steamer.
  3. Place the soft sweet potato under sun for about 3.5 hours. Preferably at noon when it is the hottest. Make sure the potatoes are spread out and not stacked on top of each other so they dry quickly.

Notes

I make this for my baby to chew when she is teething. It is super good for gnawing and great for snacking for people with sweet tooth as this is very sweet and yummy.

  • A very simple and interesting idea. Thanks.

  • They don’t look too good in the pic. We don’t get enough sun to do it this way. Easier to thinly slice and pop in the oven for a few hours on a low temp. Even better is if you get a dehydrater

  • Thank you for this. Was wondering if I could do this in the dehydrator and get the same effect?

  • Obviously a summer deal. And I doubt the sun in Tas would get anywhere near hot enough to do this is 3.5 hours. Maybe a slow temp in the oven instead

  • And don’t forget to cover with something to keep away the flies and ants and any other creepy crawlies
