The Young Adult sensation Becca Fitzpatrick, author of the best-selling Hush Hush saga, is back with a new novel! Black Ice, a riveting stand –alone romantic thriller set against the treacherous backdrop of the mountains of Wyoming.
Britt Pfeiffer has never been that adventurous, but that’s about to change. Wanting to impress her ex-boyfriend, Britt convinces best friend, Korbie, to take a trekking trip with her. But when a freak storm leaves the girls stranded they seek shelter in a cabin, where they find two knights in shining armour. Or so they think.
Britt quickly realises that the girls need to get off the mountain, fast. In exchange for her life, she is forced to guide the boys down, and as they set out on a harrowing journey through the cold and snow, Britt realises the only way to escape with her life is to pretend she is on their side. But is gorgeous, sexy Mason an enemy or an ally? Tension mounts, and it’s only a matter of time before things turn deadly . . .
Dark and adrenaline-filled, Black Ice will have you on the edge of your seat right until the final twist!

Black Ice is a book you can read over again. It has romance but essentially it is a thriller with twists and turns. Expect the unexpected and one things for sure you won’t want to put the book down. Becca Fitzpatrick is an excellent writer and she takes you into her story.
Once you start reading Black Ice you won’t be able to put this book down. Becca Fitzpatrick is a great author and she makes all the characters come to life. Expect the unexpected and enjoy reading this book. I would certainly recommend this book as I really enjoyed reading it.
I loved this book. Great twist at the end. I’m sure to re read in order to find details I missed first time around. Highly recommend this one as it suits all age groups. Be careful Fitzpatrick is an excellent writer who makes the reader care about the characters and get immersed into the love story.
I loved reading this book. Such a great book. Romantic thriller’s are really suspenseful !! I have read some Becca Kitzpatrick books before and this is another one that I didn’t want to put down, once I started reading 🙂 I love Young Adult books … even though I’m 48 years of age. I find that they are more interesting & capture you imagination better 🙂 I have already recommended soe of her books to my daughters & their friends.
Ok, I have passed this book around to my mum & now my sister, mum & haven’t stopped talking about it, her words “out of all the draw dropping, cold & cringing books I have read, this one would by far be the best. Why haven’t I seen her books around”
So we jumped on Google & ordered “hush, hush” this lady is very talented & I thank mouth of mums for showing my whole family a new path to sexy thrillers..
Pure genius.
Enjoyable and exciting, edge of your seat romantic thriller
In a diversion from the fantasy world we have grown to love from the Hush, Hush series, Black Ice shifts between romantic novel and thriller as the main character Britt experiences a full range of emotions from feelings of love to white knuckle terror. A hiking trip turned sour when a blizzard forces Britt and her friend Korbie to seek refuge in a cabin where they find a couple of very handsome young men who take them captive and force Britt at gun point to act as their guide and help them escape from the mountain. Her captures alternate between hero and villain as they fight together to survive the dangers of the mountain and Britt’s heart and mind are in constant conflict about which way she should run. An enjoyable and exciting read.
I had high expectations for this novel, seeing as I’ve read Becca Fitzpatrick’s other books and LOVED THEM. I’m happy to say that i wasn’t disappointed. Like i said in my initial review, i didn’t really like the characters at the beginning, but that all changed as i got more engrossed in Britt’s world. It was definitely a suspenseful book, full of lots of twists and turns. And even though the plot was fairly easy to predict, i still found myself being surprised. Definitely worth the read!
I have read other books by Bec ca Fitzpatrick and will definitely be looking out for this one. She is such a great Australian Author and not terribly well known amongst my friends. We have a wonderful reading group and are always sharing books with one another. This one will go down a treat once I get hold of it. Thanks for your review
Black Ice by Becca Fitzpatrick is a thrilling romantic suspense set in the mountains of Wyoming. Britt, who’s not typically adventurous, embarks on a hiking trip with her friend Korbie to impress her ex. A sudden storm leaves them stranded, and they seek refuge in a cabin with two seemingly helpful men. But things quickly take a dangerous turn.
Britt is forced to guide the men off the mountain, unsure if she can trust Mason, one of her captors. As tension builds, the journey becomes a deadly game of survival. Dark, suspenseful, and full of twists, Black Ice will keep you hooked!

What can I say about Black Ice? I thought it was a good book to read however there are bits I liked and bits that I didn’t!
I really enjoyed reading about the characters and trying to discover their underlying motives, however as the story moved along, I thought it become a tad unbelievable.
The half-way point of the book also let it down, and I felt this section to be a bit of a slog, especially after such a fast paced start. The ending however did gain momentum which gets this book points again.
Overall, this book is worth a read.
This book was entertaining and kept me guessing however there were some elements I really liked and others I didn’t.
The characters and their motives intrigued me and I couldn’t wait to find out the truth however, even though at first the plot captivated me, I thought it became a little far fetched throughout the book.
Black Ice’s tempo was fast and engaging at both the beginning and at the end however, I felt that during the middle of the book it dragged somewhat.
Overall, it was an acceptable book to read.

When I started the book I didn’t know exactly what to expect. But from the first pages it was so engaging! I just couldn’t put it down. The suspense and tension went on through the all book. I loved it! I surely want to read more from this author! It’s not a book just for young adults. 🙂

I applied to review books for Mom’s and was overjoyed to be chosen to review the book ‘YOU’. ‘Black Ice’ was my second choice of book to review. I have read the reviews and it seems the book is a brilliant read. I have decided to get the book and read it.
1 cup water
2 tspn salt
90g unsalted butter chopped and kept cold
150g gluten free flour Plus 1/2 cup extra for kneeding
2g xanthan gum
2 free range eggs
Directions
1
Preheat oven to 200C
2
In a heavy based saucepan combine the water, salt and butter.
3
Bring to a simmer and add the flour and Xanthan gum. Stir vigorously with a wooden spoon. Lower temperature and continue to cook until pastry comes away from the sides and is well combined. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature.
4
Whisk the eggs to combine and add half the egg mixture slowly, incorporating fully before adding the final half. If the mixture is a dough texture when you add in the first half, you may not need to rest of the eggs mixture.
5
Turn out onto a surface on which you have placed a further ½ cup gluten free flour and knead until shiny. Try to incorporate as little flour as possible so the pastry does not go crumbly.
6
Chill pastry then using a rolling pin roll the pastry between two pieces of baking paper greased on both sides. Roll to half a centimetre thick and place in pie tins.
7
Properties: browns beautifully, has a nice crispness and holds in moisture. Has a nice potato undertone which is very pleasant. Has a great shelf life, up to 5 days in fridge without going mouldy.
8
Note: You could add 2 teaspoons of xylitol or coconut sugar and make a sweet pastry for fruit pies.
Wow, what an awesome read, after missing out on reviewing this book I went straight to the Library to get it as it sounded great, I certainly wasn’t disappointed. What an awesome read, couldn’t put it down and just loved the ending.
Ok, I have passed this book around to my mum & now my sister, mum & haven’t stopped talking about it, her words “out of all the draw dropping, cold & cringing books I have read, this one would by far be the best. Why haven’t I seen her books around”

Wow! A truely cactivating read. The story line has so many twists and turns but it keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. I could not put the book down. The characters are easy to follow and you grow an instant connection to Britt, Korbie and Mason. The story ends how you’d like but not after some more twists and turns. Definitely worth the read!
The book overall is good for young adults. It is not very complicated. The language was fine too. Black Ice is a sort of mystery with a killer on the loose, two young people running for their life through the mountain. Unfortunately, the story was not very convoluted. It was obvious what was about to happen in the middle of the book. So, the moment of surprise was missing. But overall it is enjoyable reading for teenagers.

‘A Beautiful Adelaide Blend With A Lighter Alcohol Content!’
For lighter wines that still taste like the real deal, Chapel Hill’s Enlightened range is quickly becoming a go-to. These bottles bring all the flavour with noticeably less alcohol, which is why everyone’s falling in love with them.
Best SIPS’ Chapel Hill Enlightened Wines review team put the Rosé and Pinot Grigio through their paces, and the feedback was unanimous: both are fresh, light and perfect for summer sipping without the unwanted morning crogginess.
A rosé with summer written all over it
Chapel Hill’s Enlightened Rosé is bright, crisp and fruity, hitting all the right notes without tipping into the “too sweet” zone. It’s the kind of bottle you reach for at a casual barbecue or any get-together where you want something delicious but easygoing.
It’s exactly this balance of lightness and full flavour in an affordable bottle that has so many fans raving.
“Light, refreshing and honestly just feels like a little moment of peace in a glass. The flavour is this perfect mix of crisp + fruity without being too sweet — literally the kind of rosé you can sip while you finally sit down after a long day.”
A summer staple … on the lighter side
“Too many of these low alcohol wines just don’t taste enough like the real deal-but this is a sure fire exception. Beautifully refreshing, with a touch of sweetness that’s not overwhelming. A gorgeous colour too, which is a bonus- after all, we also drink either our eyes! Add into the mix a reasonable price point- this rose is a winner!”
“I love a nice glass of Rosé and the Chapel Hill Enlightened Rosé did not disappoint! It’s really light and refreshing and tastes like a really expensive wine. I love that this wine is really affordable, so I can enjoy a beautiful Rosé without breaking the bank more often. Definitely give this one a try!”
If your warm-weather wine rack needs an affordable new staple, this is it.
A Pinot Grigio you’ll be buying again (and again!)
For the white lovers, Chapel Hill’s Enlightened Pinot Grigio is a solid everyday white that ticks all the boxes: crisp, clean, food-friendly and affordable.
Our taste-testers repeatedly praised how balanced and versatile it feels, whether chilled on its own or alongside simple meals and casual gatherings.
“We love a white to pair with our spring/summer lunches and especially our seafood. This option ticked all the boxes …”
A versatile sip you’ll keep reaching for
“I enjoyed the first sip to the last of this Pinot. Anything with pear and citrus is something I want to try and this lived up to that, but with a lighter alcohol content – which I appreciate! Enjoyed over dinner, it paired really nicely with the food I was eating. This wine is something I’d happily recommend to others.”
“The wine offered just the right balance of fruity flavours – fresh and vibrant, but never overpowering or too sharp. It paired beautifully with both our light lunches and dinner, making every meal feel a bit more special. I also appreciated how crisp and refreshing it tasted, perfect for unwinding and enjoying good company. Definitely a Pinot Grigio I’d reach for again.”
Your lower-alcohol go-to
The team rates Enlightened wines 4.34 out of 5 and recommends them for anyone on the hunt for flavour-forward wine with less alcohol. They’re bright, modern and made for the kind of moments where you’d love a glass, but still want to feel good afterwards.
The warmer weather tends to make alcohol go to my head faster – I’m not a big drinker, but just for that reason I’d seriously consider a low alcohol wine. The Pinot Grigio particularly sound as if I might enjoy it. I might well buy a bottle or two for Christmas.
Looks delicious, would be keen to try their wines based off the reviews. Love anything local and the light wine is just an extra win – low alcohol content would be fab for nights with friends where we all still have to drive home afterwards so would be buying for that type of event!
Chapel Hill Wines do have quite a good reputation. I like the fact that it is low alcohol content. Personally, I like a very sweet wine but many would like these as they are not so sweet. I wish them well with sales and think it’s good they are doing something about lowering alcohol level.
Thanks for sharing this review. It sounds that the taste is good, the price is good and the alcohol content is really low indeed. I do like the fact that they’re light. One of the things I don’t like when you’re drinking a couple of glasses that it fills you up and it affects your appetite
I just asked the forum for recommendations on zero alcohol, but this is an attractive option as well! I do enjoy a Rose, so will try this one after all the positive reviews. It’s a shame they don’t have a sparkling in their collection yet! Would have been prefect for all the celebrating at this time of year.
I dislike rose, but the pinot grigio sounds like it might suit me. To be honest, the alcohol content doesn’t bother me all that much – I rarely drink more than a glass or two anyway – but it would probably be nice from a general health point of view to know I’m consuming less alcohol.
This sounds like the perfect glass. I do love being able to have a few drinks and not be all over the place about me. And as a bubbly girlie from Adelaide myself, I’m sure I’ll find a lot to like about this drop. Crisp and not too sweet, I’m sold and will have to try it.
It was the first time for me hearing about the chapel hill brand. And i still recall when i picked up the Pinot Grigio from my local, the staff there actually stopped me and said i picked a winner! She said that it was probably the best Pinot they had available to sell.
I’ve heard a lot of good things about Chapel Hill wines and the reviews are always good. I like that they have low alcohol range as I like to have a few glasses when I finally get to have one. Not being too sweet is a bonus that suits me well.
The idea of having a lower alcohol content wine without compromising taste is really exciting. There’s nothing worse than feeling “under the weather” from the effects of alcohol. This lovely wine ticks all the boxes, lower alcohol and a refreshing flavour. I’m keen to get the Pinot Grigio in my cart and into my fridge!
This wine sounds delightful and really refreshing to enjoy on a summer afternoon. I love that it tastes fresh and crisp and still has the same punch as other wine. It sounds like an absolute delight. I will have to give it a try next time i am at the bottle shop looking for some wine.
