Hello and WELCOME to our school readiness program where one of our resident leading experts, Sonja Walker, talks us through everything we need to know about our children starting school.

In order for your child to be able to start learning to read when they go to school next year, they need to be able to speak well. In this video, I explain the sounds that your child should be able to say and provide you with a free downloadable fact sheet that provides lots of ideas for building your child’s spoken language skills.

We will be releasing a new video each day for 25 days so please join us to learn all you need to know about starting school!

  • My daughter can talk very well, our issue is getting her to talk when she is uncomfortable. She has a bit of selective mutism.

  • Thanks for your guide Sonja. We play a lot of pretend games to encourage new speech patterns. It could be pretending to be a tiger ” Grrr, grr, Growl”, fixing a cardboard box car with a motor not starting “R R Rrrr RR rr “, endless combinations.

    • What a great idea! I’m sure your children are having fun and learning their sounds at the same time!
