1. Wash and Sun Dry Reusable Shopping Bags
Reusable shopping bags are a big plus for the environment but dirty ones harbour all sorts of nasties.
Our cleaning tips: throw canvas bags in the washing machine, run through a hot wash cycle, and hang out in the sun to dry. Washing and line drying in the sun kills bacteria and makes them look brand new.
2. Clean the Tile Floors & Grout in Your Bathroom
Nothing freshens up the bathroom like beautiful clean grout and sparkling clean floors! Not sure how to tackle your grout stains? Read this how-to article for some great grout cleaning tips. The best way to clean tile floors is to sweep or vacuum loose debris, attack any ground in dirt or mould with an Oates Corner Scrub Brush (Read Reviews here) then grab an Oates Tilt-a-Matic Squeeze Mop or an Oates Triple Action Flat Mop (read reviews from MoM Members who rated this mop 4.75 stars out of 5) and clean the floor with a mix of water and mild detergent.

3. Clean All your Stainless Steel
Oates Cloths easily get rid of smudge marks on your stainless steel, with no chemicals involved. First use a damp Oates cloth to wipe over smudges, then use a dry Stainless Steel Oates cloth to polish. Easy! Look for the Stainless Steel wiping cloth and regular Microfiber cloth as part of the Oates 4pk Microfibre Cloth Cleaning Kit.
4. Clean Your Fridge
Speaking of fridges, don’t forget to clean the inside too! Clear out food and chuck any that’s past the use-by-date. Wipe shelves and drawers with a mix of 2 tablespoons of baking soda and hot water with a damp Oates Microfibre Cloth. Baking soda cleans and deodorises, and doesn’t leave a scent food can absorb. Rinse fridge with a damp Oates cloth, then dry with a clean Oates cloth. Restock food items neatly.
5. Clean your Makeup Bag
Spring cleaning your makeup bag is good for your health! Old makeup can cause eye and skin infections. Go through your bag and throw out old makeup, wash brushes, wash the bag and replenish.
6. Clean your Oven and Microwave
Winter cooking left your oven looking worse for wear? Don’t rush out and buy harsh chemical cleaners. Our easy oven cleaning tips: mix up some baking soda and water, apply to oven and leave for 20 minutes. Wipe clean. See how well it works here. White vinegar and water is all you need to get your microwave looking spotless.
7. Polish your Kitchen Sink
Give your kitchen sink some TLC after winter to freshen and deodorise. Use vinegar and baking soda on the plugs and sinkhole, polish all seals, taps etc. then get a new dish drainer.
More kitchen sink cleaning tips: for smelly sinks mix ½ cup of baking soda with ¼ cup of salt. Mix and pour it down the sink. Heat a cup of white vinegar in the microwave and pour over mixture. Let stand for 15 minutes. Flush with hot tap water.
8. Clean All Your Cutting Boards
Wooden cutting boards provide a habitat for bacteria to grow. It’s especially important to wash them thoroughly after preparing raw food to stop bacteria spreading to other food. Follow our cutting board cleaning tips to sanitise and sterilise your preparation boards.
9. Clean the Windows Inside and Out
Clean, sparkling windows allow the spring sunshine into your home. The best way to clean windows without streaking is to spray with ½ vinegar and ½ water.
