A simple BBQ lunch - Real Mum story on MoM

We are having friends over for tomorrow for a simple BBQ lunch but, I can’t help myself. I’ve just spent the day preparing for our simple lunch making individual custard tarts and pavlovas, roasting the veggies for the salad, making the pepper and chilli rub for the steak and making the tomato mix for the bruschetta. All done, ready to go. Hubby just shakes his head and laughs, he knows I like things to be ‘nice’ when we entertain. Now all I have to do is sit back, enjoy my glass of wine and watch my husband get all the credit for cooking the steaks tomorrow.

There’s another story on here about the exact same thing. How the wife runs around doing everything for a ‘simple’ BBQ, only for hubby to get all the credit at the end. It was very humorous

Love it! I know what you mean about getting none of the credit. I think deep down though we all know who puts the effort in before hand!! Hope you did get to enjoy your glass of wine with your friend.s The BBQ sounds delicious! Feel free to invite me next time you entertain!

We feel as tho we are judged by the other females there, so we do our best to show we can do it. I don’t do this anymore. I now send hubby out to buy a few salads. Then he really can bask in the glory, as he truly has done it all. A BBQ is my day of rest.

haha, Gold! They always get the credit for the 15 mins on the bbq after we’ve spent hours preparing. But i guess that’s their idea of a bbq and all the fancy stuff is our idea!

Thank you for all your lovely kind comments. We had a fantastic, long and relaxing lunch. It’s nice to be able to sit back and relax knowing everything is done. I really enjoy cooking and I like to show my friends and family how much I care about them through food

I too tend to go what my husband calls overboard, it’s always a nice feeling to know you put the effort in ,hope your husband doesn’t get too much credit

I have a friend like that, and truly, what I enjoy most about her BBQs is her wonderful laugh.
