Even though the wife should be home looking after and spending as much time home with her husband before he dies she may still have to work. I thought this was sad. I would want to spend as much time with him as possible. On the other hand the medical bills and house bills would mount up so some have no choice in working or not. Then the funeral expenses also. Then ontop the person refuses to do night shift. I can understand that but what about doing days. Shouldnt that be similar. Time should be granted off but the bosses have not been told of the situation. Another thing the lady has only recently got the position so would be afraid of loosing the work. She will need to work afterwards just for the company of others.

  • Such a sad story and some of the Government payments wont cover you for some for these situations which I find so appalling

  • Is this story yours or someone you know? What a horrible situation to be in! You, of course, would want to spend all your time with hubby. But life circumstances don’t allow for that. Bills bills bills etc. I hope she gets time off when the end is near, surely she’ll have to?!?! Poor woman :,(

  • I agree, with all the comments made however I think it is important that this lady fonds a support group for now and especially for later. Hope she will find a solution to such a sad situation.

  • I would also suggest she link up with support groups and people that have been in similar situations; it really can help to have those contacts and supports.

  • A discussion with the boss would be useful and they may find the boss to be understanding. If the boss does not know they cannot be understanding. People can act in surprising ways when we least expect it and they may be surprised.

    • Yes i agree but shes scared they might fire her. Shes casual and they assume the boss will say. If i knew that i would not have hired her. If she looses her job then shes back to square one with lots of medical bills and no income.

      • A support person may help her too; sometimes leaning on someone to help you talk to the boss may help. These situations are awful and hard and there is never an easy answer.

  • That is a very sad situation I would like to think the bosses would be understanding when and if they find out.
