Hello!

Many thanks for all the positive comments and help I have now contacted some companies and they have agreed to help and set up a plan for me to pay of the debt except one company which demanded I pay the full amount now would not listen to my situation at all they even asked me to ask family for the money and when I said I would not do that they said to me well you have to get the money some way. I then hang up as I was so angry and I then I decided to ring later in the evening and spoke to a man which actually listened to my situation and was very supportive and I will now pay of the bill fortnightly.

  • Thankfully most companies are happy to work a plan out with you, to pay debts off gradually. The hardest call is the first one, explaining what’s happening in your life, and what you want to do to get your debts under control. Companies generally are understanding if you let them know what you’re doing. It’s when people don’t pay, and don’t contact the company, that they often get nasty.

  • You would be feeling a little relieved. Hopefully the pressure will be off now and you can look forward to the future.

  • Well done, I know how hard it can be to call up companies you owe money to. I remember the relief we felt when we’d done what had to be done. No more ‘private numbers’ calling, no more angry letters in the mail. Now you can take a breath and relax a little :)

  • good on you as you find most will help you and make a payment arrangement as they don’t want you to have to resort to going bankrupt as than they get nothing. You have done a great job sorting it all out

  • Well done for actually calling them that’s the first step that lots of people hate taking.
Now just set yourself a budget and ensure that you pay the new payment amounts at the right time.
Good luck and well done again.

  • Isn’t it horrible that you can get help or no assistance at all depending on who you talk to. Companies need to have an overall policy and train their staff accordingly

  • That’s great that everything is finally coming under some sort of control for you. And excellent that even the final company listened and helped you go onto a payment plan.

  • That’s great Kim. It is the bit stressor to have these things hanging over your head. I feel your pain, as due to somebody else’s actions and me having to pay a 20,000 bill this year I have ended up having to be on time payment for a few things as well. It’s not easy
