Hello!

I have a 7 & 9 year old. When they are throwing up(sorry mums) I don’t have the stomach to help them. I’m the one running outside being sick. I can’t handle the smell. My poor dear husband has been woken up on many several occasions during the night to clean up. Even taken time off work I have too stay well away. He does a awesome job. He takes the linen and anything else he has used and puts in a garbage bag and throws it out.

I don’t know how I’m going to get over this problem.

  • No your not a bad mum! I think it’s just one of those things but it’s great to hear that hubby’s there to help.

  • It was the opposite in my house. My husband is hopeless with vomit or diarrhoea. Come to think of it, he’s pretty hopeless at most things that require good parenting. He did use to sit the kids by the fire with a hot milo and honey………while I cleaned up the mess. I suppose that helped

  • Everyone has their weaknesses, but throwing the linen out is ridiculous.

  • Are you serious? All the linen and whatever is used to clean up is thrown out? How on earth can you afford or justify such waste? They’re kids, there will be many vomitting episodes before they grow up. Someone needs to learn to wash the stuff!

    • Yeah, put it on the clothes line and hose it off if there is chunks of it otherwise it moves off one place onto another while being washed. Speaking from experience. When clothes go into holes save them and use them as rags. You can also use old rag to clean some of the surplus off before washing the sheets etc in the washing machine. I know one Mum who has vomitted from the fumes of her baby’s vomit. I confess that on that occasion I nearly did too—before she did.

  • I know plenty of people with the same aversion to vomit!

  • My kids are 13 and 10 and my husband is the same – it didn’t improve. I think its just one of those things.

  • My girlfriend is exactly the same way. No, you’re not a bad mum, it’s just one those things.

  • No I don’t think your a bad mum! Well I hope not! I am exactly the same. My now 2 year old vomited off milk one time and he was screaming and crying and running to me and all I could say was come to the bath…. I lifted him in fully clothed and just sprayed him until the clothes were free of sickness so I could undress him! :( poor little guy!
