My daughter this morning piped up with “mummy, I can’t wait for christmas because it’s going to snow”.

“Really?” I replied

“Yes, it will snow and be so cold and you will have to sweep the driveway so we can even get out of the house!”

Is it possible that my daughter watches too many American shows? I didn’t think so but now, I’m not so sure!

  • Television and movies may have influenced her, even books!

  • Thing is it’s just a movie… Northern hemi-sphere so often gets snow in Jan/Feb (if at all) and the movies just portray an unreal “idealistic” fantasy world… maybe remind her of that as well so she doesn’t grow up thinking everyone is happy, beautiful, slim, clever, wealthy etc. as alos portrayed in movies!

  • Yes, this can be pretty confusing! As they get older it’s easier. It’s not just the TV shows, it’s books, carols, decorations and the traditional foods!

  • It is sad how many Americanisms we adopt. Even sadder for your daughter when she wakes on Xmas morning

  • that is so sweet… you may want to remind her 000 not 911

  • Maybe some wishful thinking! snow is magical!

  • lol yes that is majorly cute. it does snow in america for their christmas and i used to wish that it would here too when i was a kid

  • Because kids imagine Christmas always in snow, Santa and others Christmas things.

  • Most shows do show christmas as snow time either way unles its an aussie christmas show :)

    • Very true! It always snows at Christmas.
