My 5 years old son who just moved to a new class, was very disappointed by the fact that, his new teacher will never gives EXCELLENT as comment for a pass mark when he has it all. So he angrily took his previous report card to her as a reminder that she ought to be giving him EXCELLENT instead of a mere GOOD as comment when he gets everything correctly. When he came back from school, I asked him, “did you get it all today?” He said “My madam knows excellent now”. Hahhahahahaha!!

  • Little bit rude I think. I wouldn’t be encouraging my child to engage with a teacher in this manner. Very cheeky behaviour indeed. Adults need to be respected and if at 5 he isn’t doing that I fear what he will be like when he is older. I know the world has changed, but I was always taught to respect my elders. I agree positive reinforcement is great, but I don’t think your child should have gone about it this way.

  • The teachers probably on auto pilot when faced with a lot of marking & automatically writes good. Perhaps this prompt will make her mix up her comments a bit more.

  • I wouldn’t like my child to challenge a teacher’s comment like that. :-(
Your son sounds like a bright child though, if he’s receiving all pass marks so congrats to him.

    • At his birth, the Dr. told me that from his cry, he was going to be very intelligent. I will my dear.

      • Yes I tend to agree. Whilst he should be congratulated on his marks, I wouldn’t be encouraging my son to challenge a teacher.

  • Oh dear. It’s important to stand up for himself, but I hope he wasn’t rude about it!

    • I’m not sure he was, I called the school authorities and informed them of what he was about to do, so I am sure, everything was under control. Thanks!!
