teaching my 4yr old son this week about giving and helping others and doing good things. i’ve always believed that you do good things and give and it eventually comes back to you.

yesterday morning i took a very reluctant 4yr old to the supermarket. on the way i reminded him about helping and how i struggle to push the stroller and carry a basket and to have him there to help me get things and carry the basket or help push made me happy and my shopping trip quick and easy.

he was so good and carried the basket and helped get the few things i needed and i was going to reward him with a treat but thought i dont want to reward him EVERY time he does what i would expect of him. when we got to the checkout the the lady commented on how good he was for helping (perfect!) then she gave him a little iron man torch. he was thrilled and said to me in the car. that lady was very nice and she made my happy by being a good giver. Still need to work on the concept a little but such nice timing for recieving something back for his efforts.

  • It always feels good as a parent when other people comment on how well behaved your children are. It makes you feel all the more thankful for the blessings that they are. And kudos to you for teaching him some great values that will not only help now but later in life too.

  • What a nice lady. I personally love the warm fuzzy feeling you experience when you give a little of yourself and it does not have to be giving financially. I love making things and giving them to charities . They really do appreciate your efforts. I also like being a volunteer for things too It makes me tick! lol!!!

  • I think it’s such a positive thing when strangers pick up on the good things your children are doing; it bolsters their confidence and encourages the behaviour
