“Mom, please play with me.”
No, I’m too busy.
“Mom, please go out with me.”
No, I’m too busy.
“Dad, please build this with me.”
No, I’m too busy.
“Dad, please ride this with me.”
No, I’m too busy.

Busy, Busy, Busy
Life goes on. I know, it’s nasty.
But don’t be too busy.
Finding time might not be easy.
Work can wait a while.
The house can be dirty with the tiles.

Busy, Busy, Busy
Don’t be too busy.

Later in life when you need your kids,
Goodbye they might bid
They might be too busy
Getting a degree and getting married

Busy, Busy, Busy
Spend time
Walk
Take deep breaths
Take moments as they are

  • Very well said. Life can certainly be very busy but we need to take the time to enjoy the important things in life like reading a story with my toddler or playing with my newborn.

  • Life is busy at times and it is about finding and making the time for downtime and fun. Children will happily join in and chat when you are doing things, cooking, cleaning, gardening, shopping. We chat whenever and wherever. When the knock is on the toilet door…..I do say “wait please” ;)

    • Thanks for sharing your poem and thoughts too – good on you!

  • Thank you! Its a great way to say enjoy every second you can with your kids when you can, as the are only loaned to you for a short time, who knows how long for. If we are lucky they will grow up to have familys of their own. We can dream of what the future holds but every second counts towards the unknown….

  • Well put. Why is modern life so busy? There is so much to do and never enough time. I have decided that I am just one of those people who cannot get everything done. I just need to prioritise and do what is absolutely necessary. Then I make sure I set aside some time for my child – this can be difficult as teenagers doesn’t always see time spent with parents as time well spent.

  • This is a valid reminder, but ts pretty hard to implement every day.

    • Agreed! Life needs to fit in everyone, and sometimes that means kids need to wait a little bit.
