For more bang for your buck, buy in bulk where you can (and if you’ve got the room) and buy seasonal produce!
Any food that last for ages such as flour and sugars for example can be bought in bulk. Being bulk vegetables to blanch and freeze is also another way to save. I like to look at bulk buying as long term shopping, saving me heaps in the long run!

  • We try to only use homegrown ingredients and then everything else we bulk buy too – we even raise our own cattle so the only thing we really buy is pasta, rice and dairy most of which we tend to bulk buy for convenience =)

  • This is the exact reason I love Costco, bulk saves me a massive amount of money, I have not had to buy toilet paper for three months, still have half the toilet paper left, so its looking like it will last 6 months!

  • I try to buy things that are half price or really good specials. I’ll stock up on these supplies so I rarely buy things at full price… Veggies I don’t freeze.. I’ll just buy whatever is cheap at the time.

  • Absolutely. And take advantages of all the sales. I bought 5 kilos of rice at half price a couple of weeks ago in Coles. That’s a huge saving.
