I also do this once a quarter. My husband and I love cooking shows, especially Master Chef. They have a segment called mystery box challenge where the contestants get given a selection of ingredients and they need to come up with a dish. We do similar things at home to make it fun and our 2 year old is our judge. You save heaps of money and importantly you don’t end up wasting food that may have been too long in the freezer

I love experimenting with food and different recipes, and you’ll be surprised at some of the amazing dishes you’ll produce too. Don’t be afraid to substitute different ingredients in recipes, and it often pays to write down what ingredients you’ve used, so that if it turns out fantastic, you know what to use to make the dish again. Love my freezers, great way to buy in bulk, cook & freeze food, saves time & money. Hope your puppy is o.k.

I usually try and do this for one week every couple of months. I too get a bit of a kick out of it and it saves us tonnes of money. try taste.com and type in the main ingredient you have on hand. There are thousands of recipes. Be inventive and dont be scared to substitute ingredients for things you have on hand.

We also enjoy the freezer clean out…for us it means less food wastage too as things are not left in their to spoil! Hope all goes well with your dogs operation.

If you have a stocked freezer it is a great way to save on groceries, I do it every now and again and sometimes you do have to get creative.
