This is more of a vent then anything else. I hate crutches! For a month know I’ve been hobbling around on the darn things, and it hasn’t gotten any easier. I broke my ankle and needed plates and pins surgically implanted. It’s extremely frustrating not being able to do things for myself. My partner has been fantastic, but my eldest has done nothing but complain about having to help me. Simple things I ask her to do she complains about and moans. She’s only 8 I’m dreading what’s coming as a teenager!

I’ve been pretty much laid up in bed for the last month, as soon as I try to do anything my ankle flares up. To make things worse I’m a month away from finishing my degree. Thankfully my teachers are understanding and I have a little longer to get things done by.

Anyway…crutches….how do I get used to these darn things???

  • You don’t! You just put up with them.

  • I remember as a kid wanting to get crutches so much….

  • Thanks for the replies :) I have the moon boot on but can’t weight bear for a while yet. I might try the other style of crutches. Can’t wait to be walking again!

  • Crutches suck , I had them when I broke my ankle

  • They are terrible & hurt arm pits. Could you possibly wear a moon boot instead?

  • They are horrible to have, i had to use them after my hip replacement, first they gave me the under arm ones and i could not use them so i had the arm ones and found them much better. Good luck with your recovery and thanks for sharing.
