Hello!

Have you ever felt that nothing goes right for you. Feeling down that noone told you about the dark side of parenting. Money, houses, rental markets, appliances given up, bills, food, time, rushing around, clothes. Most people feel like this at some stage. Its hard to keep around positive people, not to cry at times. Well the gp is the first place you can go get help. Having some medication to gain some happiness is not the only thing you need. You need to do something good for yourself. I done womens education where i learnt life skills to turn my life around. From there i entered university. I completed it with a family and looked after my dying mother too. Id thought id fail. Others thought the same thing. I got through. I volunteer my services and do suicide prevention in the early stages. I also run my own counselling service now too. This is my new life. Now i just have to afford it. This is all after having six kids too.

  • your story is incredible. no-one in society really wants to talk about mental health issues but that doesn’t mean that they don’t exist or affect a lot of people. I am proud that you sought help for yourself as many people won’t. It is hard enough to admit that there is a problem, let alone seek treatment. Thankyou for sharing your story and i think that you will help a lot of mum’s.

  • Oh yes, everyone has days or even weeks like that. I agree that if it goes on longer than a week or so, you need help.

    • You are right! There can be plenty of ups and downs and getting help with depression is a good thing when it continues. The stigma of getting help has changed over the years which is good for people that suffer with depression.

  • Good on you for making the most of your opportunities and life! Often we can be ‘served’ up with difficult times and situations and it is finding our way through them the best we can; hopefully coming out the other side wiser and stronger.
