im a mum of four children and my youngest daughter 5 months old has recently been diagnosed with dextrocardia in situs inversus totalis this means all organs are on the other side heart is on right side stomach etc, for us we never found this out until she was 10 weeks old. This came as a shock we were told it is rare and she can live a normal life.
some people go all there life not knowing that they have this condition and only find out when they have chest x-ray like our baby did, from the day we found out she has had all sorts of complications high blood pressure and few other issues we are awaiting on more specialist to check other parts in the body that are working correctly and don’t have tubes that are too small etc. our daughter is one special unique girl our angel.
my daughters journey with this condition has really broadened our few on life its each day as it comes and the support from our family and friends have been amazing our daughter see’s specialist monthly and doctor visit for blood pressure weekly.
this condition for our daughter was not picked up in the womb i hope that doctors and specialist can pick it up in an ultrasound to let parents know what may be involved for there family
