Hello!

Years ago (Before children) I use to take a daily multivitamin. And for some reason I stopped and have never resumed. I have purchased them and take one or two then find them a year or two later in the cupboard and they have expired! I was just wondering does anyone take a multivitamin and do you think it actually does anything and if so what?!

  • I take iron tablets with Vit B group mainly as it helps with my energy levels. I was also Vit D deficient so took those before . For some reason I cant take the ones with all the muiti ones as I think the extra vitamins is too much for me and I end up getting ulcers or extra pimples . The chinese call it ” yit hee ” which means too much heat and I think in this case too much unknowns which I am may never had before causes the body to react . So since its been a while , I think its best to stick to the essentials and when needed . Talk to doctor is unsure as well.

  • I have but didn’t think it helped in anyway.

  • My GP suggested they might balance some of the medications I’m taking.

  • well my hubby laughs at me and tells me that we are eating good enough so i am making expensive pee lol I think that if you get older, it isn’t bad to take those fish oils etc that can boost you.

    • I had a GP tell me it was just expensive pee! ;)

      • Now, I use the extra money for other treats-special fruits.

  • I take a women’s multi with fish oil, magnesium (great for headaches and leg cramps) evening primrose oil (for PMT and early menopause) and also Fefol as it’s the only iron I can take and my leves can get low. It sounds like a lot now I’ve written it down but a multi alone has not been enough and I’ve certainly noticed the difference taking the other 3 as well. This reminds me I need to get some Vitamin D too as my levels tend to be low – especially over Winter.

    • And yes, I do think it makes a difference if you get a good supplement from a reputable brand.

      • i did not know that magnesium and fish oil were good for headaches. thanks I will try this.

  • They only do something if you are lacking in those vitamins in your body…otherwise you pee it straight out as waste as it is excess to your needs

  • I used to take multivitamins. Now I prefer to take different ones. I take vitamin D and vitamin B complex. And now that winter has started, my daily vitamin C. When I remember I take fish oil too. And some probiotics.

  • I find when i remember to take them i feel a lot more energised and dont get sick as often. When i have had blood tests in the past my doctor usually rings me and tell me i must have my vitamin d, c, and B2. Instead of having a multi vitamin. And he is right when i go back on them i am not as run down as before and dont get as sick as often. If you are unsure just go to the doctors and ask for a full health check. That way you will have a blood test and that can help you take what you need. (if its needed)…
