Every been disappointed that something you want that is on sale is not available when you get to the store?

I was in that situation today when I saw that a body wash we need to use for my son was on sale 2 for $15 (saving $5). I spoke to one of the aisle assistants to see if there was any more and she replied ” No sorry we are awaiting a delivery”. I was a little eager to find out when the delivery was coming and when the sale ended and kindly let me know “just ask for a rain check at the counter”, if you cannot make it back before the sale ends or we dont have stock just ask the cashier”.

I have to say I have heard of rain checks but never asked for one. So as we were having our items scanned the cashier kindly filled in the card I need next time I shop. I must remember this and ask more often some items on sale are excluded from rain checks but it cannot hurt to ask.

I hope this is useful to someone especially as the holiday season is about to start.

  • I’ve ever gotten a rain check once and it was for dishwasher tablets. It was at great price Si we stitched up. I like the option of still getting sale if they had already run out.

  • If it’s a great bargain and not often seen on special, or badly wanted by hubby, the kids or myself, I always ask for a raincheck. But if it’s something that’s regularly on special, just a run of the mill item, I tend not to worry about it too much. Most shops are more then happy to oblige though

  • I’ve used rain checks before and sometimes depending on the store and price of item, ordered it on the internet and got it delivered free to home.

  • It’s useful, but only if it’s a store you visit regularly. Otherwise it’s a bit of a hassle.

    • Yep agree – thankfully this was our local super market
