Hello!

I am fat. Yup. Fat.

In my case, it is actually due to my thyroid packing it in, then going undiagnosed for several years.

I have always been senstive about being fat, especially as there is really nothing I can do about it – diet and excersize will not shift it, I just have to wait for it to slowly slowly come off now my thyroid levels are ok (daily drugs as complete thyroid removed).

At the park the other day, a little fellow asked if I had a baby in my tummy.

Without even thinking about it, I told him No – I am just fat.

At which point his mother damn near fell over.

I realised that I far far prefer the honest and non judgemental question of a genuinely curious child, to the nasty little whispers, laughs and pointing behind my back that their mothers indulge in!

  • I to have suffered from the same thing my thyroid packed it in when I was 20 I am no 46 and I could not budge the weight but had thin arms and legs. I was the same and told people nope just fat . When people seen my wedding photos they could not believe I was so thin and I would just say I wasn’t born fat. Nothing I did dropped any weight even when I worked in a job that was an all day work out nothing. 5 years ago I was in a serve accident and they lost me 4 times on the highway and than I gain more weight from all the medication. I stopped the medication and something happened I never thought would and our doctor can not find out what is happening I have lost well over 50kg I can got to bed wake up and another 2kg gone I am now 47kg and my daughter goes off that I am way to skinny and my Son said it is strange not having a fat Mum as that is all they ever knew. I am still waiting for something to happen and the weight go back on again and there will be nothing I can do about it. All I can say is I just learnt to live with my weight and got on with life instead of wasting time worrying about something that would not work. I have an under active thyroid which I would say you have and every one thought because I am on medication for it I should have been able to loose the weight but no. So I say yep just be your self and say it how it is. Good on you

  • What a great attitude & outlook you have, not many would be able to handle it like you. I hope for your health mostly that the weight starts to fall off.

  • Dot worry about them, they have more problem then you do. You can lose your weight they can’t lose their bit*hiness
