Hello!

With all the talk of Prince George’s birth, and details emerging today about the birth being natural and without the use of painkillers, I’m reading lots of negative comments asking why the media are making a big deal about it being ‘natural’. It would be lovely to hear people being happy that Kate was able to have the birth she wanted, rather than making it into a “competition”, and it saddens me that a lot are missing the point – this was Kate’s pregnancy, and it’s HER birth story, and I for one, am happy that she was able to have the birth she wanted and worked hard to achieve.

I had 2 natural births with no pain relief or intervention. I also had an emergency caesarean with the works. All 3 were amazing in their own way. I guess I’m just saying that I wish we could all be happy for other Mums when we hear their stories, and not see it as “having a go” at Mum’s who may have had to go a different way than us.

  • I agree with you. Each woman’s story behind the birth of each child she births is unique. People are so quick to take away that experience from you and shape/mould it into something to suit them. And often when it comes to celebrities/famous they will do what sells. Sad really.

  • We sure do have different birth exoeriences. Even the same mum can have such different birth experiences. A midwifed job would never be boring ay?

  • Anything to do with the Royal family is a big deal and makes news, sounds like the comments from other people were the ones making an issue of it. Kate had a natural birth – that’s a fact and it was reported. I couldn’t see where the media were making a competition out of it.

  • At the end of the day, isn’t the most important outcome a healthy baby and a healthy mum? I definitely agree that each birth is different and that every mum should feel able to make the choices in giving birth that will be the best for her and her precious bundle.
