If I was to pass on anything from my years as a mother it is….give your children your time. Buying them expensive toys is not the answer as it only provides short term satisfaction. I know that your time is precious when you have a young family but the time that you have the attention of your children is even more precious and goes by all too soon.
I wasn’t and I’m still not a fan of brand names and famous people as i think it sets them up for disappointment. I have taught mine the value of money and the importance of quality time and it is so rewarding when you see those children turn into adults and teach their children similar lessons.
We didn’t have a lot of money but we always managed the camping trips and days fishing, swimming and picnicking or a friendly game of volleyball with the other kids in the street. These are some of my fondest memories and it is so rewarding to see them having the same passion with their children. It reinforces that i must of done something right!
