Hello!

the other day, we had people doorknocking for charities and as our town has been barraged by scammers claiming to be raising money for the cyclone victims, i turned down the offer to donate. I don’t mind donating usually though. So i tell the doorknockers, “sorry i have no money” and then my eldest child, who was at the door with me, pipes in “Oh but you have money in your wallet”. I had to say that that money was for bills……i felt embarrassed and almost like a liar but i really had to save that money for bills. Let me know about your experiences

  • Once many years ago we were at the dentist waiting when 2 females who were obviously together came in. I’m not sure how the conversation started but my little Miss at the time (probably around 4 years old) was insistent it was a man and a woman and the more I said to talk quietly and that they were both woman the louder the insistence got that they weren’t! We got called in then :)

  • I won’t donate to doorknockers either, I prefer to be sure my donation is really going to a charity.

  • Yes, when my daughter was 4 she said “Look mummy how fat is her” in the loudest voice whilst pointing, to say I was embarrassed is an understatement but she was 4.

    • Luckily at the age of 4 a child can be redirected and advised about commenting on people and their appearance.

  • It is funny how they think they are being helpful by reminding you where your money is!!
