We have had some horrific fires in SA over the last few years, some of them deliberately lit, irresponsible people not thinking when throwing cigarette butts out of vehicles, tossing a glass container on dry grass – it gets hot in the sun and sets the grass alight, sparks from machinery, or from the exhaust of a motor vehicle. I wish these people would think of the volunteers who risk their lives saving others because of their stupidity – firefighters, ambulance, those who prepare and serve food, drinks etc. Ambulance crews not only treated injured and smoke inhalation cases, they wash the smoke film and ash out of eyes. The vets who go in and treat injured animals, birds etc – native, stock or pets. There are innocent people whose lives are ruined.

I always pray for a safe summer season; such a worrying time.

I cant stand the hot weather either much prefer to snuggle up in bed than have air con running all night, funny how I change thow used to love hot weather as a child not anymore. The fires scare me also as we have a hugh vacant land at the back of my house and doesn’t seem like the council keeps it cleared up very well at times of heat.

I don’t like the really stinking hot summer days and crave for winter, now that winter is here and it’s freezing, I wish it was summer – I’m just a whinger when it comes to weather.

I enjoy the hot weather but completely understand what your saying, it must be very worrying indeed. Like you a fire free summer would be fantastic. I can also see your concerns re your daughter, I guess just be honest, good luck 🙂
