How do our kids get so old so quick?!

Today was the day that I realised my child is growing up, and isn’t a baby anymore! As I lay on the lounge feeling unwell and feeling a bit sorry for myself my three year old daughter comes up and climbs under my blanket with me. She lifts my head, puts her arm around me and begins stroking my forehead with the other hand. I nearly cracked a tear!

My little girl has become such a caring little thing. She runs around like a maniac the majority of the day, but then when posed with a question she answers with such thought and articulation. She obviously often thinks very critically about certain situations. One of the latest was regarding a relative who is wheelchair bound. ‘Mummy, my Aunty has sore legs so she is in a wheelchair. I will get a bandaid for her legs so she can walk’. All of this without us ever even discussing the fact that her Aunty is even disabled.

Kids are so observant. And this is why we must protect their little eyes and ears from things that may affect them. Note to self

She’s caring because that’s how you have raised her. She sounds like a really special little girl and it’s so great that you could get that comfort from her.

Children are so sweet, love the simplicity of a child. Wish we could carry a little of that through to adulthood
