We know that infertility can be extremely difficult for a woman but what about her partner or husband? Infertility can be equally upsetting for a male partner or spouse and he may not always verbalize how he’s feeling. Maybe he’s the strong silent type or just won’t express his emotions, but you can bet he is feeling frustrated and hurt in his own way.

If you’re doing all the talking (and crying), make sure to ask him how he’s feeling about the situation or just spend some quality time together doing something that makes you both feel normal. Infertility can really hurt a marriage and it can either make you stronger or weaker as couple. Turn towards each other instead of away from one another. And when in doubt, great big old bear hugs can be just as healing as words.

  • My husband and I went through 2 years of trying to conceive and dealing with misscarriages (once we started IVF) for unexplained infertility (most likely age related) and our marriage is even stronger now. We supported each other through the ups abd downs and were able to communicate and not blame throughtout he experience. We are very lucky.
