Hello!

I would just like to say how sorry I am to the MoM team that I can press the “share to FB,” button as I have deactivated my account. I can still share to Pinterest. I realise I can’t enter most of the competitions because of this. I will probably at some stage make another account, and add just a few select people, so that I can still connect with family and do a few things that require you to log in with Facebook. Closing Facebook was a decision I had to make, and at some stage I want to share the story on here with others, because I can’t believe that what happened to me got to the point where it actually affected my state of being.

  • Do what is best for you . F/B is great if used properly yet intimidating if abused and normally it only takes one silly person to mess up a good thing . There are many options and a lot of people have put alias names on their account and only tell trusted people. Please talk to someone if you are not coping so well as all of us need to be wary of any social media so it is used in the right manner . I mainly use it to see family photos . All the best .

  • straight up. GOOD! no matter what you have been through, a lot of people wouldn’t go to the point of closing their acc! i have respect for you to be able to stop it right there! i hope that you were not bullied to this point and it was your decision. if you do get a new acc, keep it locked so no-one will see your stuff. Screenshot things if need be to back yourself up. I haven’t had issues with people but i am sure that you could report to facebook if need be, with any screenshots or messages.

  • I look forward to reading your story when you share it on here. FB can be a terrible place to be at times. I often feel saddened when I share/write a status/comment and get no response. It’s depressing to have hundreds of ‘friends’ but not one can be bothered to connect with you on a ‘social’ networking site :/

  • Social media can be such a pressure cooker. Good for you for taking charge – I hope this sorted things out for you.

  • I hope you are ok. It seems some terrible things seem to happen on Facebook and awful bullying as a result. You have to do what you need to do for your own health and safety.

    • Group dynamics on FB can have devastating affects. It is sad that adults engage in bullying behaviour, when we warn our children of the dangers of cyber bullying, and we are often presented with cases in the media where people have been shockingly abused/bullied, especially in the case of teens who are trying to gain a sense of self and belonging and tragically take their own lives.

  • Hope things are ok for you , sadly facebook etc can be harsh and unfair. I dont know what others think but i have two accounts one for my friends, family etc and one for competitions where i have no friends. I hate that they always ask for acsess to your friends lists and profile for you to enter the comps etc….

    • What a great idea! I hadn’t thought of doing that – think I will now.

  • I hope you are ok. I’m sorry you have had a bad time on Facebook

    • I second this as having an unpleasant experience is not ok.

  • I am very wary of Facebook, and feel it’s unfair that we’re forced to have an account to do things on an unrelated site.

  • I don’t know what happened to you in Facebook. Did you already share your story here?

  • Many people do close their facebook accounts when they have bad experiences or just want a break from social media. Do what is best for you and your well being. :)
