Hello!

I’m going to get something off my chest, ask for some advice, don’t be harsh….it’s how I feel and I don’t understand it myself. When I think of my mum, who I love, I think of hair hanging out her nose, bushy eyebrows, sagging boobs, pubic hairs left on the shower soap, nudey streaks across the house in the early hours of the morning for a toilet run, hearing her and dad having sex. I think of all that and shudder…….ugh! I’m sure I keep her at arms length because of it. Add to that the time dad and I weren’t talking and she took his side. I couldn’t ring the house, she wasn’t allowed to visit me because dad didn’t want it. Now I have kids of my own and my worst fear is they will grow to feel the same way I do about me as I feel about my mum. It scares the hell out if me that I may end up driving them away from what I am :(

  • I think if you’re aware of the possibility, you’re likely to avoid it.

  • History does not have to repeat through generations. Maybe get some support to work on these issues – may help? Good Luck!

  • yeah don’t be too harsh! obvs i am not in your shoes but you only get one mum so don’t be shallow! Maybe that is what you are worried abut, your kids treating you that way but if you raise them right, they will never see you in any other way than loving! I can see why your mum would side with your dad, even if he was in the wrong.

take mum for a pamper session if her eyebrows are annoying you but enjoy your time with her :)

  • These are some pretty serious and long standing issues – have you discussed with your family at all? Perhaps talking with some kind of counsellor could help too.

    • This is a good idea – counsellors can be so helpful.
