I dont know if its just because Im new to a small country town but im happily engaged and getting married next year (its been delayed due to our babies) we have 2 beautiful little girls. We dont drink, smoke, do drugs or gamble and never been in trouble with police. We dont cause any trouble and stick to ourselves. The moral of the story is why is it that man, older women talk to me but I cant seem to get other mums around my age too its like they always judging me instead of giving me a chance. Ive always been a shyish person and very quiet but I would like to make friends because im so far away from my old friends and I miss them. Is it normal for mums to judge other mums. What do I do to change this situation? Is it just a small town thing?

  • Maybe they’re shy too? They might not be judging.

  • mmm. Are they judging you because you are too stylish for them , or is it that you don’t have much in common . It sounds like it might be meeting the right people ( and that is anywhere )

  • Sadly it is becoming normal … but it’s not right.

  • defence and told her to settle down, she told her child of maybe 4 years old, to go kick him, which the child did. Oh my gosh what a scene. She left before security got her and everyone was staring at us. Later when i was leaving the shops, i drove past her and she was walking into a drug counselling place so i felt like she was having problems that were bigger than me smiling at her.

  • Thanks Tahlia that makes me feel little better. Im not doing much at all as dont want to rub people the wrong way. I think my problem is that its to hard to get out with a 2 yr old and 6 month old but hopefully your right one day it will all get better

  • yep some things in a small town suck- give it time and you will find people you click with. just don’t charge in being all that and then some- it can rub people the wrong way ‘social pecking ladder’ . try the local community centre, sporting clubs or what ever you are interested in. don’t stress and good luck!

    • Thalia you are so right about small town pecking order!
