Hello!

Master Three has recently started popping out of bed repeatedly, with very thin excuses. Last night as I tucked him in – AGAIN – I told him to “Please stay in bed! Have a big sleep! Don’t get out of bed!”

And a plaintive little voice followed me to the door: “But I LIKE getting up in the middle of the night…”

I guess I’m not getting a full night’s sleep any time soon.

  • When my brother was 3 years old , he was the cutest little thing and used to pop in the middle of the night and jump into my bed . Of course he got into big trouble from our parents the next morning . Always love a good memories .

  • I am so glad that all my sleepless nights are over. Don’t get me wrong sometimes due to sickness I may have to get up but at least most night I get a full sleep.I think you just get to that age and think thank goodness that is all over.

  • I like the gate idea ladies. My son is past that age now, but I remember only a couple of years ago waking up to a naughty but cute little sneak lying right beside me in bed lol. It is hard though Lorraine, I only have the one child and find it tricky if I can’t get enough sleep to see me through, let alone other children to take care of on top of that.

  • Hi Arcticwinter – yes, we’ve put a gate up. It’s very effective for keeping his baby sister out when he’s playing with something like Lego. Master 6 has one for that reason too. Unfortunately, even though he “shouldn’t” be able to open it, he can!

    • and my grand daughter has learnt to climb over it! So hard to find something effective :(

  • have you thought of putting a baby gate up in the bedroom door way. We did that and we could check as we walked past and hear if anything was wrong and he learnt to stay in his bed before he worked the gate out

  • Cute but I also know how hard it can be to function when sleep deprived from broken sleep!
