does anyone else seem to have an enormous amount of emails every day? I went through and blocked a whole load of marketing ones but still I am getting masses of mail. I am not sure how to stop it as I thought I had as I followed the links to unsubscribe. how else can i do this?

  • Unsubscribing is the best way, but if the emails still keep coming, try blocking the email addresses. There is a block function in the settings.

  • Unsubscribing is important, but it sometimes takes a week or so to take effect. You should also be able to set up “rules” which will send emails from certain people / lists to a particular folder – you can skim this once a week in case anything important has slipped through, and then trash the lot.

  • They are so annoying. It happens because of competitions you may enter. Or from subscribing to different things. Companies often share your information with companies associated with them. Usually unsubscribing does the job. Are you following all their things to do?

  • Thank you for asking this question…..I have the same problem. If its not junk mail in a physical sense, its junk mail in our in boxes…..add that to the telemarketing calls and it drives you round the bend! I read through your comments and the one that makes the most sense is the one that says to keep your personal email separate……I wish I had of thought of that before!

  • Most legit marketing places you can unsubscribe. It may take a few days to kick in though. They do get annoying, that’s why I don’t use my personal email to sign up for things.

  • Yes I get a lot of them too, I delete them every day and report them as spam as well

  • I’ve noticed places I have liked on facebook appear in my growing list of emails too!

  • I have had this problem as well over the last month or two. My email is an hotmail based one and I never used to experience anything like it. If I put something to junk that was the end of it now they keep filtering back to my inbox, am curious if this is an hotmail only issue or whether these ‘spammer’ type emails have come up with a way to dodge the filters. Very frustrating!!

  • Yep, I’m I’m the same boat. We recently moved house so I didn’t get to check my emails for over a month and I had over 1000 waiting for me in my inbox! Spent the next week unsubscribing and deleting. Aside from unsubscribing and blocking, probably all you can do is try to not do what I did and leave it for weeks on end!

  • try the unsubscribe button but if that doesnt work check and see if there is a report spam button at the top your emails. I get a heap to but i have signed up to a lot of things

  • It’s so frustrating. I’ve unsubscribed a few times but they just keep coming. I’m used to ‘deleting’ now so eventually they just go to junk mail.

  • the best way is to scroll to the bottom of the emails and ‘unsubscribe’ to them. Some may take up to 3 days, but they do eventually stop.

  • send it all to spam! have 2 accounts for this reason or simply abandon this email and get a new one and that will take awhile to get over-run lol

  • I am the same at the moment and although I have unsubscribed to newsletters yet still get them.

    • Unsubscribe seems to mean the opposite sometimes! ;) I get more! ;)

  • I also have a public and private email. The public one gets spammed heaps! If I leave it for a few days I get massssssive amounts to delete

  • I am subscribed to different newsletters so I get a lot of emails too. I have two different emails though. One “public”, that I give to everyone. And one “private” that I give just to my closest friends and I use just for personal conversations. This way in my private email I never get junk emails.
If it’s getting too much, maybe you could close your old account and open a new one?
