I have just come back from visiting a good friend of mine’s son in hospital after having his appendix out.

The poor child looked so sad and still in pain. Passing the other wards on the way to him, I realised how lucky I am to have 2 very healthy children. It makes the trivial things of the day seem even less trivial. There are hundreds of parents and families worrying everyday about a sick family member. My heart goes out to all those families and all the wonderful doctors, nurses and hospital staff who are so caring and kind.

Yes, those of us with healthy children sometimes forget how hard other families have it. It puts a lot of strain on everyone when a child is sick and needs a hospital stay. Kudos to those families that make it through in tact

Whilst my daughter was in hospital it was so very sad to see so many sick kids in worse pain then she. The majority of them were very sweet and managed to keep smiling despite the pain.
