Story Melbourne Cup

I have been invited to at tend Melbourne Cup and most people say your so lucky and how exciting, but I am not really wanting to go. I feel there is so much to organise with the kids as we will be away over night and don’t have family here to help out. I don’t really want to be surrounded by people for the day who are stick thin and eating lettuce leaves and the whole hype of fashion on the fields. It is a corporate thing will not know anyone so make polite conversation with people who I will probably never see again. I do feel ungrateful as I know a lot of people love this sort of thing but for me I find it all a bit fake. Oh well sorry to whinge but just spent all day looking for an outfit, shoes and hat to wear and matching bag all for one day! What a waste!

  • I think I would feel exactly the same. Have you rummaged in your wardrobe, you may find something. Visit op shops, there are vintage ones about which are cheap. There is a great one in Ballan, Victoria & many in Vallarta but not sure where you are. Boring polite conversation with strangers, I can see why yr not keen. There is a big hype but sometimes less is more, they say this in Masterchef, surely it can be said for fashion, do you really need a hat or fascinattor if you have a pair of spanking shoes, like eye catchers. Try to buy something you will wear again
