Hello!

Last night, after the results of the leadership challenge that ended Tony Abbotts time in office, I was at a loss for words. That, and angry! What must the rest of the world think of us with 5 changes of leader in little over 5 years?

At a time when good relationships between other nations is paramount, and a strong, united Government is needed, it seems that we have been failed again. This kind of in-party fighting reminds me of a room full of toddlers – spitting dummies and saying “I wont be your friend any more”. Is that the impression we want to give to the rest of the world? Trying to explain to my children what had happened to result in a new Prime Minister this morning, left me stuck for words – for a way to explain what the ‘heck’ went on.

I still can’t quite believe it and hope that somehow, some time in the near future, we manage to ELECT a government that is stable and has the best interests of our country at heart.

Is anyone else feeling this dismayed?

  • Mr Abbott was taking us down a dark path! We needed something to change. I’m happier with this outcome :)

  • This is beyond a joke. I am embarrassed by our government. Both liberal and labor as just as bad as each other.

  • Yes. I think the rest of the world would be laughing at us and our lack of stability. It’s ridiculous. Politicians claim to only want what’s best for Australia, why don’t they unite and prove it fir once?

  • I don’t like Tony Abbott, but I am feeling embarrassed that our leaders can’t get it together and unite for the good of Australia. It’s not good

  • I hope more talented women get the opportunity to demonstrate their talents and we see more women on the front bench! The number of women on the front bench was well….somewhat lacking! Equal representation…..gets my vote!

  • I didn’t vote for either, but I was so embarrassed by Tony Abbott as a person & that anyone else thought that Australians were like him. He has never respected women & being a woman who has worked twice as hard to get just as far because I was a woman in a mans world, I feel I know 1 when I see 1.

I always give someone a fair chance & will give that to our new PM, but I hope he does it quick cause we are all pissed off with the merry-go-round we never bought a tix for!

  • At least we can change PMs without starting a civil war.

    • Good point, we are the lucky country after all.

  • I thought it was up to the australian Public who we elect to be our prime minister. Although we dont always get who we want personally. I am over people in canberra making that decisions for us If its going to happen it should be closer to a election near the end of their term not just as some politicians are not happy.

    • We have a very robust democracy in Australia and party politics is very interesting to say the very least!
