I was pregnant with my first daughter, i attended all my clinical visits. Had all blood tests all ultrasounds and even 2 extra ultrasounds, at 27 weeks i had to have steroids to stop her from coming and to form her lungs, she held off until she was due for one simple reason. At a mid ultrasound i noticed the umbilical cord was around her neck, the midwife said this was normal, i presented nearly every week with severe pains at my hospital, each time i was brushed off but i knew something wasn’t right.. I presented for the second last time and was 3cm dilated and as my first i was told that it would be roughly 1cm per hour to dilate i choose to go home in every severe pain.. over 24 hours passed and still nothing so i presented for the last time, they were simply going to send me home, i screamed at the nurse and told her dont you read your notes i was here over 24 hours ago and theres still nothing so she checked again to see how far dilated i was, still only 3 cm… They decided to break my waters which i had already told them had broken but they assured me they hadn’t, anyways they broke my waters and nothing came out… Because my waters had already broken.. 3 days of labor and finally after being prepped for surgery as my daughters heart rate was dropping to well below what they liked when i was contracting i needed sleep i feel asleep and woke up ready to push her out naturally….. My daughter was born not breathing (black) and it took the hospital 7 1/2 min to resuscitate her, i was allowed a little hold before she was whisked off to baby icu were i was told she would be for 2 weeks. It turned out something was wrong my baby was born not breathing coz she had the cord around her throat arm and leg so each time i was contracting it was strangling her… Always follow your better judgement

  • Hospitals are really bad at listening to patients.

  • I know this was a while ago, but I seriously feel for you. I hate when nurses think they know absolutely all the best. <3

  • What a harrowing, awfully traumatic thing to experience. Sounds like you needed an emergency C- section immediately.
