Hello!

We were just recently approved to adopt a puppy. We have had so many false starts applying and not hearing back so it was a real surprise when we were told someone was coming to do a yard inspection. We’re getting ready for a road trip to go pick up the new fluffy member of our family and I can’t express how excited I am. So if you are trying to adopt a rescue puppy….don’t give up as the right one will find you.

  • I know there is one group in SA – not one of the two big ones that does yard inspections and they charge for it too – for permanent adoption. I don’t know if they give any refund if you are refused.
I am not referring to the organisations that raise puppies for visually impaired Guide Dogs or for assistance dogs. People, often families volunteer as puppy educaters. They walk them every day, train them including going into shops etc and ignore food smells etc., not to chase other animals or birds. When they are walking/ training –they are then classed as working they wear a special harness and or coat. Other people are not supposed to distract them or touch them at all. They are also trained to tolerate loud noises so they don’t take fright and try to escape if a loud vehicle noise frightens them. Puppy educaters have the pups from 3 months old for 9 -12 months. Then they go to the next stage of training.
