My partner did the exact same thing this morning so your not alone. I think in general men just don’t understand how upsetting it is to feel unappreciated. Our common sense lets us understand that you make a big deal about mothers day especially the first one but a lot of men just don’t get it because lets face it there not to bright sometimes (hahaha). At the end of the day men always get out of the gift giving, think back to when u were going to teen birthday parties, you would never see a boy bring a present unless his mum brought it.
My solution is buy some cardboard and have a finger painting activity with your child and for keepsakes write happy mothers day on it. (Fun for the kiddies and u have something for the keepsake box).
Decide what you would like to do for the day eg. a nice breakfast/lunch/dinner. a movie, a nice picnic at the park, going out shopping etc and tell Daddy what’s going to happen
Men always say stuff like we need to tell them what we want and its true ( even if all u want is for them to show some initiative and surprise us) half the time they do try to surprise us and it ends horribly because there ideas are just ridiculous.
Personally im sick of my partners lack of initiative but rather then get upset over it iv found a solution, Do it myself. This year I even made sure I organised his mums mothers day gift and iv told him exactly what I want for mothers day because lets face it if we left it up to them all wed get is a horrible memory of what should be a great day. Happy Mothers Day Ladies- Remember to appreciate your mum this mothers day and remind your friends that you can see there doing an amazing job
