Hello!

Driving from Adelaide to Melbourne with our 2 children last week. Mr 3 and miss 11months. We thought about buying a portable DVD so the kids didn’t get cabin fever, but decided against it! Mr 3 was so well behaved! He played games on the iPad and took photos of the scenery. Mean while miss 11 months screamed for 6.5hrs. Of the 8hr trip. Even though we stopped 10 times. Nappy changes, feeds, solids and breast milk. Bottles while we were driving and multiple toys. She screamed! The trip home was a bit nicer she only cried for 4 hours! People always told us eventually they will sleep! It’s not true! Next time we will fork out the money for the DVD and hopefully get some peace!

  • Did you travel during the early morning (sometimes they will to back to sleep) day time or night??… It could be that your baby suffers from motion sickness but not enough to vomit. It is a horrible feeling. I often wished I could actually vomit and I might feel better. It is tough when they aren’t old enough to communicate what their issue. If she is feeling sick she may go white or a greyish colour in her face. Is the sun shining in on her when you are travelling. Although windows are tinted the heat still radiates through the glass. Sometimes the temperature in the back doesn’t feel the same as in the front. Are you breasfeeding while the car is moving? Apparently that is illegal. Will she drink water from a bottle while you are travelling?. She may be thirsty but not actually hungry. If you are going to do a lot of travelling it may be worth talking to your Dr. or other medical professional to see if they have any suggestions.
