As a first time mum I want to give my son everything! And have spent so much money on brand new toys (that he is growing out of so quick) until recently someone suggested I buy second things and at first I though no way I need need things for my baby, but then I added some local buy swap and sell sites on my face book account and got hooked! I pent 300 on my jumparoo for my son to thn see one the same or $80 second hand! I could not believe how cheap people sell things and what great quality (if you buy from the right people) in the last month I have spent $98 and have a hole other toy room!! I am now a second hand shop-a-holic ;)

  • Baby stuff is often cheap and fantastic quality second hand because babies grow so fast they don’t use things often.

  • Yes you can save so much money and it is fantastic when you buy a bargain!

  • Sometimes you need to know what the product was likely to be worth brand new. I recently went to a garage sale with friends. They had some childrens toys there that had obviously been used a fair bit and would have needing a good clean-up. When our friends checked the price tags on them the prices were almost as highas they are new when on special. Needless to say we left them there.

  • Yep, and baby things are usually on pretty good condition because they don’t get used for long. As for toys, have you tried a toy library? They’re great for giving the kids new things all the time for little expense

  • Yes, lots of stuff is outgrown so quickly that it stays in good condition.

  • I love second hand. Garage sales, op shops, auctions, I’m always rummaging around.

  • It certainly pays (saves) to look around, most of the clothing for ours were second hand from a family friend, which was great, the clothes were almost new. Have done the same with toys.
