Funny . My eldest daughter is a hoarder ( who even keeps receipts ) has the messiest bedroom and my son is very tidy and hates mess in his room . She takes after the father , he takes after my side of family .

I hate cleaning at the best of times, but my favourite is the missing socks found behind wardrobes, I spend months looking for them, no one knows where they go, but they must throw them against the ceiling and they fall down the back of the wardrobe, annoys hell out of me, but at least I get to pair some more up.

It’s the windows I hate doing.

I see in your story you actually answered your own question on how to get the kids to help with cleaning. $$$$$$…. You said you found money so you tell them as they clean any money they find they can keep. Oh also the taking away of games you have to follow through with what you say and for a long period of time.

I enjoyed reading this, I know what you mean, I would find many interesting things under their beds.

For me beginning is the hardest part & it’s amazing what is found is weird places, at least it only comes around once a year 🙂
