I think some people are greedy and like to ‘keep up with the Joneses’ I was lucky to be a stay at hone mum. When they started school, I found work where I could see them off to school in the morning and be home fir them after school. I could even manage sone time off for school activities

I was prepared to stay home with my children until school but then I started to get stir crazy. It wasn’t the money, it wasn’t that I couldn’t take more leave from my work. It was because I was not being a good mother. I was getting grumpy and frustrated. I have a better balance at work now. I spend good quality time with my children. I admire those who stay home with their children.

I’m very fortunate to be able to stay at home.

We all have different priorities and do what’s best for the needs of our family and situation. I don’t second guess why someone would want to stay home v someone who goes back to work. I also don’t think mums that go back to work ‘dump’ their children in childcare, they place their children in childcare so they can earn money to support their family – how they spend the money they earn is their business.

I think in most cases it is about maintaining a lifestyle you are comfortable with, which will be different for everyone.
