Right so a 3 hour labour sounds great, a 45 minute labour a dream and a 2 hour labour just right.
I am sick of people asking me how long my labour is and when I say 2 hours for my last, I hear “I hate you, how lucky are you, I laboured for 16 hours” or “I’m so jealous”.
Jealous of what? You felt pain in waves for 16 hours, and I felt intense pain in one split second without warning starting at a 5 minute apart contraction lasting a whole minute to a quick transition in 30 minutes with contractions coming every 2 minutes hard and fast and lasting a good minute of intense pain.
This was not pain that was slowly felt in the beginning and slowly built up, this was pain that didn’t give me time to think, and drained my energy in seconds.
As much as I loved my births, I wouldn’t wish a quick labour on anyone.
