Having read and article in this section by another mum on their family outings to the library, I got inspired today. I rang to ask if they had a particular movie in that I wanted and all three copies were out but I was able to have one reserved for me when it comes in. Now I have recently found myself in different financial circumstances due to well things outside of my control. It is amazing what you can access and how you learn to repurpose and recycle and make things from last when you have to. My current situation has taut me so much about how to live a more frugal but also more sustainable way of life. I walked away from the library with 23 items and I was thrilled. Thanks to all the mums on here that inspire us with their ideas and tips, be it lifestyle, budget, cooking etc.

  • The library is a great place during any time of year and the best part is you can read a book as well while your kids read and browse and the kids section . I had one about 5-10 mins drive from my place and it even had a childrens park next to it so if it was a sunny day , they would play in the park as well . Really worthwhile .

  • Libraries are so much more now than they used to be. I frequently borrow books, dvds and toys, and if you need to use the internet & can’t at home, most libraries have computers that you can use, or WIFI if you have laptop or tablet of your own. And since discovering MoMs, I’ve found so much useful information and great recipes, and it’s good to share our thoughts, stories and questions with other mums.

  • Our local library is linked to several other nearby suburban libraries. The resources are fantastic and a great place for other meetings and activities. Our local library recently has a short course on using Android tablets. For young and old the library is great.

    • I gave my grandma my old phone and she has gotten used to using a touch screen, so now she wants to get an iPad. I will tell her to look out for a course at her local library.

  • I also love the fact that libraries in the ACT have many online facilities – for example, you can reserve a book online, or renew one if someone else isn’t waiting for it. It’s so great!
