My dad never knew his dad, never even knew who he was, he had a hard life growing up,with a single mum. He always said how much he detested it and pushed us all to get married before starting families so our children didn’t suffer as he did.
In the 50s, my mum became a single mum, pregnant to a black man. Against all odds and society’s prejudice at the time, she kept my half brother, even though her own father was against it.
Then she met my dad. He had 3 boys, his wife not long died. After raising my brother on her own for years,Mage finally meets a man she thinks will understand her position.
Nope. Dad didn’t want to know my brother. He decided to move the family to Australia (his 3 boys, plus another son they had together and myself) but mums first born was to be left behind.
I’ve known thus story for many years and it still makes me cry. Dad hated not knowing his dad, yet he denied my brother his mum and his siblings. Heartless

  • So sad, I hope in time you can reconnect with your brother and let him know he is loved and missed. (if you havent already). I guess its the old school belief that your dad was following(thankfully it now doesnt matter a person background). Your mum must of been a strong women to deal with what she had been dealt with in life.

  • That’s so sad indeed. And unfair! Do you have any contact with your half-brother. Poor child. With whom was he left then? How old was he at the time?

  • Oh my goodness. That is sad. Have you ever tried to find your brother?
