I’m currently breastfeeding baby #4. In total so far I have fed babies for about 60 months all up and hopefully can get that to about 80.
It hasn’t all been easy! We have gone through cracks, bleeding, weightloss (theirs not mine unfortunately!), biting, rejection but have preservered. The hardest part has been white nipple vasospasms. With my first google helped me as my community health nurse had never heard of it before! What happens is the vessels spasm and cut off the blood flow to the nipple causing it to turn white and for you to feel pain, almost like a stabbing pain. I could feel it right through to my back. It is much worse in the colder months and I find applying a heat pack before and after feeding helps a lot. Have never been able to do the cold cabbage leaves or air them out after a feed!!! Magnesium and fish oil helps but keeping warm is the main thing. Hope I help someone else going through the same thing 🙂
