This morning was a heartbreaking one, as my son shook his head and refused to feed for me. After 13 months our breastfeeding relationship is over. I thought I would be celebrating – no more feeds, no more leaking, no more sore boobs – but alas I just feel sad. My little baby is now a toddler, making his own decisions and deciding what is right for him. He loved getting milk from a bottle instead this morning, and I know we have ended this relationship on his terms and in a respectful way. Morning cuddles will no loner be the same. And yes, I am shedding a tear or two.
