Hello!

My 12yo daughter was walking home from school 3days ago as it is not far and she walks nearly halfway with a friend. She noticed this white sedan slowly following her not long after she had said goodbye to her friend.I have always taught her to go to the nearest neighbourhood watch house with the yellow sign on the letterbox and get a good description of the person or licence plate number of the car.She was so scared poor darling as she couldnt find a house but she managed to get the licence number. She found an elderley lady gardening out the front of a house and went up and told her.The car sped off very quickly at this point &the lovely lady rang the police then me.I went straight up to the house and spoke to the police who put out an alert on the white sedan immediately&comforted my daughter. They caught him thankgoodness as who knows what couldve happened!!!!………We were lucky and I believe that God was watching over her.I have spoken to her school about this and the whole school had an assembly regarding this and what to do………they are now starting a petition toget the neighbourhood watch houses back as this man was from way outve town.It concerns me that this was the firstyear she had walked home from school alone but luckily the school socialworker is talking to her about it.I now pick her up from school eventhough she is very mature for her age and insists she is fine Im not taking any risks!!!……please if you have not spoken to your children about this……Please Do!! Sadly times are different.

  • I remember every second house was a safe house, I have a feeling they’ve stopped due to the fact paedophiles can also get a hold of the stickers. They didn’t do back ground checks, they should restart doing it. Your poor girl must be terrified!

  • it is sad – but contact local council they may know of local initiatives

  • We still have neighbourhood watch, meetings etc. I think it is a dying art though. And it shouldn’t be that way, not with all the crime that’s happening today
