Great style is all about dressing for your body shape, your colouring, your age and choosing the right outfit and right accessories for the occasion.
Being a mum, you are constantly juggling a million things at once, leaving most to feel less inclined to spend the money to invest in our wardrobe.
Investing in a few key versatile pieces will keep your wardrobe looking fabulous between seasons and allow you to change up your look with the addition of a few simple accessories, ie a belt to cinch in the waist.
When you have a bigger budget, it’s always best to imagine how many occasions you will be able to get out of a certain outfit.
It is always important to consider the existing pieces in your wardrobe and how you can work your existing accessories or invest in a few key statement accessories to make your outfit more wearable – being a mum doesn’t mean you have to be any less stylish.
Once you know your body shape, you can then determine which colours, shapes and accessories will work best for you and the ways that you can show off your best features – this is what style is all about!
By understanding which features will flatter you, you will be able to determine how you can accessorise your outfits to suit, whether it be for a work day or going out for a well-deserved girl’s night out.
The Style Doctor has chosen some great options for some of the most common body shapes, the hourglass, the pear, the rectangle and the apple shapes as well as what accessories would look great with the outfit, and which ones will take the look from day to night.
Style tip: Don’t be afraid to play around with your accessories. If you are wearing a minimal styled outfit, try a bold shoe or bag to take the look to a new level.
For a print, minimal styling is best, and in this case it is definitely less is more, opt for a long chain if it is a low neckline or a pair of cute sandals if it is a day time look.
Whether you are wearing a pant or dress a belt is always a key piece to have in your wardrobe, go for a black or tanned tone to make your outfit versatile. This will give you shape and allow you to flaunt your shape.
