Gone are the days of bringing home half the beach worth of sand, thanks to the creation of sand-free beach towels.

A revolution for parents who want to keep the car relatively clear of sand after a trip to the beach, sand-free beach towels are made from different materials to regular beach towels, so sand just glides off their surface. And they’re just as absorbent as traditional towels, with the added bonus of being quick drying and compact when folded.

What are sand free beach towels?

Sand-free beach towels are made from materials like microfibre or velour, which means they don’t have the little loops that regular towels have. It means sand doesn’t get caught in the fibre – it just glides right off or can simply be brushed away.

They’re still super absorbent, and they have the added bonus of being quick-drying. It means they’re not as heavy to lug home as well – winning!

What do sand-free beach towels feel like?

Keeping in mind they’re made from a totally different material, sand-free beach towels aren’t as fluffy and thick as regular beach towels. They’re thinner and feel more like a shammy, but they’re just as comfy against the skin.

And here’s another bonus – because they’re not as thick as regular beach towels, they’re more compact when folded. In fact, you’ll find many sand-free beach towels come in their own handy pouch.

Benefits of sand-free beach towels

  • Don’t hold sand
  • Super absorbent
  • Quick drying
  • Antibacterial properties
  • Odourless
  • Lightweight
  • Compact

  • love the idea of sand free, however these seem really expensive, especially at this stage as the kids probably would not care for them well enough and likely to leave them behind or lying about.

  • I bought them for my hubby and son but they don’t use them. They always revert to the older towels.

  • Gone are the days of cotton towels. Now when I happen to use one they get wet so fast then hold all the sand and become twice as heavy. Sand less towels are so light and absorbent and dry quickly. They can be thin tho but all in all they are good.

  • Expensive! I dont live in a world where I can fork out $50-$90 each for towels for 3 kids and me. They look great and I’m all for leaving the beach at the beach, but the wallet vetoes these prices, sorry.

  • These are Great! The beach is my favourite place but I with four kids I hate bringing home all the sand!
