The always-lovely Cate Blanchett and her husband Andrew Upton made a surprise announcement over the weekend.
The couple, who are parents to sons Dashiell, 13, Roman, 10, and Ignatius, 6, revealed they have expanded their brood, adopting a baby girl.
Upton said the couple were “thrilled” by the new addition, who they have named Edith Vivian Patricia Upton.
Blanchett was seen jetting into Sydney with baby Edith on Wednesday, with a fellow passenger posting this photo of the famous mum.
One of the first to congratulate the Blanchett/Upton family was close friend and Adopt Change founder Deborah-Lee Furness.
“Congratulations to Cate, Andrew and the boys on the news of their baby daughter and sister Vivian. We wish them all the best and much love for their new life together,” Furness said on Friday.
Blanchett is currently promoting her latest film Cinderella and is excited that her children might be interested in her work.
“My children are completely in the stage where I’m an utter embarrassment,” the star laughed.
“I don’t force them on a Saturday night to sit home and watch mummy’s movies, wire coat-hanger in hand, but they’ll see this one for sure.”
We know you will join us in congratulating Cate, Andrew and their family at this very exciting time.
